The connection between Sadu as a storytelling craft and the urban transformation of nomadic communities was explored in this installation. Composed of 144 cement blocks, each is imprinted with a black-and-white photograph transferred from the artist’s personal archive, captured in Kuwait and Egypt. Through these images, a perspective on places and moments that have shaped an experience is reflected.
The choice of cement blocks reflects that shift—from woven textiles to built environments. The images were transferred onto the surface, blending into the texture of the blocks, creating a visual rhythm that echoes Sadu motifs. Just like weavers once embedded their stories into fabric, this piece tells a story through material and form, linking past and present.
