يحظى “سوق الصفافير” بمكانة تاريخية وتراثية عريقة في الكويت، ولكننا قد ننسى اليوم أو نتجاهل قيمته و أهمها: أهل السوق والأيدي العاملة التي وجدت في هذا المكان وفي الكويت ملاذًا ومجتمعًا دافئًا. شارَكونا قصصهم، و أخذونا في جولة داخل محلاتهم التي تحولت إلى بيوتٍ صغيرة آوتهم في غربتهم لسنوات طويلة
يُظْهِر هذا العمل تفاعل الإنسان مع المادة والمكان، ويكشف محاولات العامل المغترب في استحضار الألفة من خلال الصورة
The “Souq Al Safafeer” holds a unique historical and cultural status in Kuwait. Yet today, we sometimes overlook one of its most important values: the people of the market, and the workers who found community.
They shared their stories with us and took us on a tour of their shops, which over the years had become refuges during their time away from their homeland.
This work explores the interaction between people, material, and place, and reveals the migrant worker’s attempts to recreate a sense of familiarity and belonging through image.
